On this side of eternity it is so easy to love the gift more than the Giver.

It’s so easy to look at the present and not look at the one who gave it. We care so much about the thing and forget the giver of the thing.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” - James 1.17

God is the giver of all the things that you love. Those things that you cherish, your family, your friends, your church, your job, etc. We get so wrapped up in those things that we forget to zoom out and recognize and thank God for the blessings that are in our lives.

Prayer Focus:

ADORE God for being the great giver
CONFESS your tendency to love the gift and not think about the giver
THANK God for the blessings in your life
SUPPLICATE (Beg) God for the ability to remember the giver of the gifts and not to get wrapped up in the gift
SILENTLY reflect on James 1.17
